Configuring Additional Fields for Devices and InterfacesConfigure additional properties of a device/interface by adding additional fields. This makes device management easy.
To add additional fields, from Central web client, click on Admin tab and click on Additional Fields link. By default all the pre-defined fields for the devices are listed. Select the required fields and click on Save button. To add additional fields for interfaces click on the Device drop down menu available on the top right and click on Interfaces. Select the required fields and click on Save.
You can also create new fields. Here are the steps:
- From Admin tab, select Additional Fields.
- Select Devices or Interfaces from Associate pre-defined fields to all list box to add a new field to Devices or Interfaces respectively.
- Click Add New Field button on the top right corner of this table and configure the following values.

- Field Name: Configure the name of the additional property.
- Type: Select the property type
- Field Length: Set the length of the field.
- Description: Add a meaningful description for the field.
- Click on Save to apply the configuration to all the devices or interfaces.
The additional fields are displayed in the device snapshot page under Device Details tab or in the interface snapshot page under Additional Fields table. These properties are useful when
configuring notification profiles. To delete these fields, select the
corresponding check-box, and click the Delete link on the top right corner of this table.
