Escalating Alerts

The alarms of critical devices should not be left unnoticed for a long time. For instance, the mail-servers, web-servers, backup-servers, switches, and routers are so critical that if their faults are not solved within a specified time, the networking functionality will be brought down. You can configure OpManager DE to escalate such unnoticed alarms by sending an e-mail to the person concerned.

To configure a new alarm escalation rule, follow the steps given below:
  1. From the Central web client, click the Admin Tab.
  2. Under Alerts, click Alarm Escalation.
  3. Click Add New Rule to create a rule. Alarm Escalation Details page opens.

  4. Select Enable this rule check box to have this rule enabled.
  5. Assign a name to the rule in the Rule Name field.
  6. Select the Severity and Category of the alarm.
  7. Then configure the the interval in either hours or minutes to wait for the alarm to get cleared in the Not cleared within field.
  8. Type the values for the fields under Escalation Email Details to send an e-mail if the alarm is not cleared within the specified interval.
  9. Configure the From Email Address, the Subject and the Message of the escalation mail.
  10. In the Run this check every box, set the interval in minutes to execute this rule.
  11. Click on Save button.
To enable/disable an alarm escalation rule click on the respective Edit icon, select/deselect the Enable this rule check box and click on Save.
