Monitoring IntervalOpManager DE allows you to set a common monitoring settings for all the devices under a specific category. This is possible only from the Probe.
To do so, follow the steps given below:
- From the Probe web client, click the Admin tab.
- Under Monitoring, click on Monitoring Intervals link. Monitoring Intervals page opens.

- The default monitoring interval value for each category is displayed. Change the required monitoring intervals. For instance, if you want to monitor servers every minute, ensure that the check box corresponding to 'Servers' is selected and type 1 in the adjacent box.
- Click on Save.
From here it is also possible to enable/disable monitoring a category. Here are the steps:
- By default all the categories are enabled for monitoring.

To disable monitoring a specific category, deselect the respective check box under 'Enable'. To enable a category, select the respective check box.
- Click Save to save the settings.
How Frequently Should I Monitor? The general practice is to monitor critical devices more frequently than non-critical devices.
Given below are the recommended monitoring intervals for small and medium-sized networks (up to 1000 devices):
- Routers and Critical Servers: 5 minutes
- Switches, Hubs and Printers: 10 - 20 minutes
- Critical Services like Exchange, Active Directory: 10 - 20 minutes
- Desktops
and Workstations: We recommend turn off monitoring or monitor less frequently [30 minutes once], for desktops and
workstations to reduce the amount of network traffic generated by
the Probe.
