Starting OpManager DE

After completing the Central and Probe installation, all the Central and Probe related files are available under the directory that you have chosen during installation. They are referred to as Central directory and Probe directory.

Starting Central and Probe on Windows Machines

If you have installed the Central and Probe on Windows machines, both the Central and Probe Web Client is automatically invoked. Enter the login details. For first time login, by defualt the username and password is "admin" and "admin" respectively. However, we recomend to change the password after first time login.

Later to start the Central and Probe as a Windows service, follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Control panel.
  2. Under Administrative tools, select Services.
  3. In the details pane, right click on ManageEngine OpManager Central DE service and click Start. Similarly go to the Probe machine and follow the above steps to start the Probe service. To stop the Central and Probe service, right click on the OpManager Central DE service and Probe DE service and click on Stop.
On the Windows machines, an icon is displayed on the system tray to manage the application. You can start the client and stop the server using this icon.

Steps to start the Central and Probe using the Command prompt:
  1. Open the command prompt.
  2. Execute the file StartOpManagerServer.bat [<Central_home>\bin] to start the Central service or execute the file startdms.bat [<Probe_home>\bin] to start the Probe services from the machines where you have installed the Central/probe.
Central/Probe is started successfully. Now connect your web client to the Central/Probe.

To stop the Central and the Probe service, press Ctrl + C in the command prompt window.

Starting Central and Probe on Linux Machines

Central

  1. Open the command prompt.
  2. Start the Central server by executing StartOpmanagerServer.sh.

Probe

  1. Open the command prompt.
  2. Start the Probe by executing the file startdms.sh.

Connecting the WebClient

  1. Open a JavaScript enabled web browser such as Internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
  2. For connecting the Central WebClient type https://<host_name>:<port_number> in the address bar and press Enter. Here, <host_name> is the name of the machine in which the Central is running and <port_number> is the port that you have chosed to run the Central during installation. Default port is 443 in which case you needn't specify the <port_number>.
  3. For connecting the Probe WebClient type https://<host_name>:<port_number> in the address bar and press Enter. Here, <host_name> is the name of the machine in which the Probe is running and <port_number> is the port that you have chosen to run Probe during installation.
  4. Type the User Name and Password and click Login. The default user name and password are "admin" and "admin" respectively. However, we recommend you to change the password after first time login.
